During the Second Session of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Sixth Convocation, the Committee on State Building and Local Self-Government held 25 Meetings, and considered 199 Issues concerning Reforms in the System of Executive and Local Self-Government Bodies

Committee´s activity was aimed at the settlement of issues related to further development of the legislative base of the public authority and local self-government bodies, enhancement and extention of rights of local self-government, improvement of election legislation at the central and local levels, settlement of the problems related to administrative and territorial division of Ukraine, legislative support of administrative reform.

 

For the accounting period, the Committee submitted 287 Bills for parliamentary consideration, 232 of them being the Draft Resolutions on announcement of extraordinary local elections.  

 

According to the report, Committee´s activity aimed at enhancement of legislation appertaining to State administrations and local self-government.

 

The Committee members impart much significance to the Bill "On Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine due to the holding of Local Elections in the certain Administrative and Territorial Units" (Reg. No. 1401) submitted for parliamentary consideration on 24 January 2008.

 

The Committee members actively participated in activity of international parliamentary organizations, Standing Delegations of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Deputy Groups on Inter-Parliamentary Liaison with foreign countries, inter-parliamentary assemblies and joint commissions.

 

For the accounting period, the Committee scrutinized 2304 requests, appeals and complaints of natural persons and legal entities. The Committee rendered relevant answeres, and gave respective commissions to the executive and local self-government bodies.
