At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine welcomed the Maltese President Edward Fenech Adami at the Ukrainian Parliament. The Maltese President has visited Ukraine for the first time since the diplomatic relations between Malta and Ukraine were established.

 

Arseniy Yatseniuk regards promotion of mutual relations and enhancement of trade and economic, and investment cooperation as the priority task to be fulfilled by the leaders of both States.  

 

Ukraine is also interested in stimulation of active discussion with Malta and other EU member States concerning creation of an all-European energy space.   

 

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Maltese President discussed the issue concerning European integration.  

 

Arseniy Yatseniuk expressed his hopes for the establishment of close inter-parliamentary relations between The Verkhovna Rada and the House of Representatives of Malta. The leader of Ukrainian Parliament called for setting up an inter-parliamentary group of friendship Ukraine-Malta.

Edward Fenech Adami stated that Malta endorsed Ukraine´s pursuit towards joining the European Union. Moreover, Malta is willing to render any assistance and consultation to Ukraine in its pursuit towards Europe.
