The Committee on Science and Education listened to the Report concerning Implementation of the Committee Resolutions "On Activity of the Executive and Local Self-Government Bodies of Sumy Region aimed at Realization of the Laws "On Education", "On Comprehensive Secondary Education", "On Provision of Ukrainian Education Establishments with Modern Technical Equipment, and Actions to establish National Industry of their Manufacture"

P.Poliansky, Vice-Minister of Education and Science, reported that comprehensive activity aimed at implementation of the said Laws was being conducted in the most regions of Ukraine.

 

V.Shaposhnik, Chairman of Sumy Regional Council, and O.Stepanenko, Deputy Head of the Department on Science and Education of the regional State administration, reported on realization of the complex program "Education in Sumy Region. 2007-2011".

 

The Committee members underscored the increase of expenditures for the sectoral requirements envisaged in the local budgets. Governmental order for training of teachers, especially for rural areas, also extends. Special actions are taken to enhance the quality of pedagogical and psychological training of a teacher in compliance with the requirements of Bologna process.

 

V.Polokhalo, Committee Chairman, stated that a number of issues failed to be settled. Thus, the financial coefficient for the upkeep of one pupil in the rural area failed to be raised.

 

V.Polokhalo also deems necessary to adopt the Draft Resolution "On Moratorium on Closure of Comprehensive Education Establishments in the Rural Area".
