The Committee on Culture and Spirituality recommends that the Parliament rejects the Draft Resolution "On Celebration of the 90th Anniversary of VLKSM (All-Union Lenin Komsomol Soviet of Youth) and Enhancement of Role of Youth Public Associations in the Educational Work with Youth"

25 June 2008, 12:09

The Draft Resolution  (Reg. No.2611) envisages national celebration of the 90th anniversary of the komsomol movement, promotion of activity of youth and children public associations, enhancement of their participation in the implementation of the State youth policy, students´ and pupils´ self-government.

The Committee members believe that "celebration of the said anniversary is irrelevant, as it fails to correspond to current Ukrainian situation". Taking into consideration that "the komsomol was a youth organization that trained personnel for the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, celebration of the said anniversary should be concern of the parties with the communist bias".
