Borys Tarasiuk, Chairman of the Ukrainian Part of the Committee, and Anatoliy Kinakh, Vice-Chairman of the Ukrainian Part of the Committee, attended the press conference.
Borys Tarasiuk, Chairman of the Ukrainian Part of the Committee, stated that the attendants of the Tenth Meeting of the Committee in Brussels discussed internal development of the European Union after the Lisbon Agreement was signed in December 2007. The participants dwelled on economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, possible creation of a free trade zone, cooperation in the field of power engineering, justice and internal affairs, prospects of visa-free regime.
The Committee´s agenda included such important issues as the state of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, implementation of the Ukraine-EU Action Plan, internal policy of Ukraine and the European Union.
The Committee passed a resolution to create a working group commissioned to report on the state of cooperation from the parliamentary aspect to The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament. The working group will be authorized to submit motions to the Government and the EU bodies.
The Committee addressed consular offices of the EU member countries with a request to simplify the procedure of visa issue for the Ukrainian citizens.
The Committee positively appreciated significance of Ukraine in the settlement of issues of foreign security policy.
