At the Committee Meeting Borys Tarasiuk, Chairman, emphasized that at one of its previous meetings, the Committee had recommended that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should reject the Draft Resolution, 'On the Decision-Making Procedure as concerns Accession and Actions towards the Organisation of Accession of Ukraine to The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)' (Reg. No. 1402), and uphold the adoption of the Draft Resolution, 'On Upholding The Address by The President of Ukraine, V. Yushchenko; Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yu. Tymoshenko; and Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, A.Yatseniuk, to The NATO Secretary General, concerning the readiness of Ukraine to join The NATO Membership Action Plan' (Reg. No.1386).
The Conciliatory Council failed to reach agreement on any of these Documents, and therefore The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada suggested a compromise, and introduced a Draft Resolution. 'On Several Aspects of Decision taking on The Accession of Ukraine to The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)' (Reg. No.1402-1).
In the outcome of discussions, during which Committee Members S. Shevhuk, P.Hasiuk, S. Kurpil, and I.Herashchenko took the floor and upheld the Draft Resolution, the Committee resolved to recommend that The Committee on Standing Orders, Deputies' Ethics and Support of the Activities within The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, introduces the Draft Resolution, 'On Several Aspects of Decision-taking on The Accession of Ukraine to The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)' (Reg. No.1402-1), for consideration and adoption in its entirety by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
