The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster does not uphold the Bill "On Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Management of Land Forest Plots in Public Ownership"

20 February 2008, 10:19

The Bill (Reg. No. 1277) introduces amendments to the Forest and Land Codes of Ukraine that envisage that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is authorized to grant extended area of a forest land plot (10 ha and more) out of lands in public ownership in possession or into permanent use for non-forestry needs.

The People´s Deputy, R.Tkach, the author of the Bill, stated that "adoption of the Bill will enhance legal regulation of land relations".

At present the limits of land plots of nature conservation, recreation, health promotion and historical and cultural purpose are not defined. The Committee members believe that "the said shortcomings create conditions for mass violations of land legislation and constitutional rights of citizens".

As a result, the Committee members resolved not to uphold the Bill "On Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Management of Land Forest Plots in Public Ownership". The relevant resolution was forwarded to the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations.
