The Bill on Amendments to the Law "On Advertisement" (re Prevention of Prostitution Advertising) was registered in The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The Bill (Reg. No. 2049) calls for identifying advertisers by means of imposing a ban on anonymous advertisement, prevention of business advertisement in the form of natural person´s advertisement, and reduction in the number of advertisements that cover up prostitution advertising.

 

The Bill introduces new terms "anonymous advertisement" and "anonymous advertiser", and imposes a ban on publishing anonymous advertisements in the mass media.   

 

Pursuant to the Bill, "an anonymous advertiser is a person who orders production or distribution of an advertisement, and fails to provide the producer or advrtisement distribution with a reliable information about him/her".   

 

The People´s Deputies, V.Bondarenko, I.Vernydubov, V.Stretovych, V.Ukolov, the authors of the Bill, propose that "the effect of the said Law is extended to any commercial or non-commercial advertisement, placed in the mass media, provided the said advertisement relates to employers, job seekers (prospective workers) or vacancies appertaining to dances, waiters, employment abroad, marriage advertisements, model business, erotic photography and video filming, massage, one-time, night or high-paid job without determined profession; or in case the advertisement contains such words as "escort-service", "hostess", "consumption", "sauna" or "spa" in different cases".

 

The People´s Deputies believe that adoption of the Bill will reduce amount of hidden prostitution advertising in the mass media and in the Internet.
