The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Paruby, spoke on the 10th Kyiv Security Forum about the changing of the meaning of security in the contemporary world of Hybrid wars. “The security has much broader meaning than military actions. We understand that information security is no less critical than military security. The economic security, energy security, humanitarian security is no less difficult challenges”, - he stressed.
According to the Chairman, to address the range scope of challenges and do it in a cooperation with countries, bordering with Russian Federation, should be regarded as a joint purpose, aiming at counteract Kremlin geopolitical influence.
The First Deputy Chair of Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Gerashenko, continued with emphasizing on the impossibility to implement the Minsk agreements without implementing security and humanitarian clauses as the priorities in the framework of the panel “Europe: the challenges of divergent agendas”. She mentioned the challenges that European countries face in recent years - an unprecedented level of Russian propaganda, deceptive campaigns and even interference in national elections.
The First Deputy pointed out that, acknowledging the purpose of Russia to discredit European values and split the EU, the EU and ENP countries should jointly develop measures to counter the aggressive policies of the Kremlin.
Kyiv Security Forum gathers policy leaders and experts to debate on the solutions of the issues of conflicts resolution, economic and energy security, border management, etc. for the 10th this year. On the 8-9 April Kyiv welcomed NATO Deputy Secretary General, prime-ministers of European countries, Members of the European and Ukrainian Parliament, ambassadors and policy experts.
