The attendants of the hearings discussed the urgent issues concerning further development of the Ukrainian Specialized Children´s Hospital ‘Okhmadyt´, improvement of current legislation in the said field, development and enhancement of infrastructure regarding rendering medical aid to children.

Tetiana Bakhteyeva, the Committee Chairman, informed the attendants that since 1957 ‘Okhmadyt´ has been regarded as the basic medical establishment that provides qualified free medical aid to the children of entire Ukraine, as well as to the women of childbearing age and pregnant women.

At present a number of problems influence negatively the work of the said medical establishment. Inter alia, there is a lack of medical personnel, which is caused by low salary, and social and economic vulnerability of hospital employees.

Therefore, the Committee resolved to intensify the control over implementation of the Parliament´s Resolution and President´s Commission, and to grant the status of national establishment to the hospital. The Committee also passed a resolution to settle the issue of human resources by hiring new specialists.
