The Committee on fighting Organized Crime and Corruption upholds the Bill "On Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine" (re Liability for Illegal Planting or Cultivation of Opium Poppy or Hemp)

06 March 2008, 10:43

The Bill (Reg. No. 1287) "clearly defines juridical qualification of actions appertaining to illegal planting or cultivation of opium poppy or hemp". The Bill differentiates administrative and criminal liability for illegal planting or cultivation of opium poppy or hemp.

Article 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is introduced in the following wording: "Illegal planting or cultivation of opium poppy or hemp in the amount of 100-500 plants inflicts imprisonment for up to 6 months, or personal restraint up to 3 years". Adoption of the Bill will eliminate divergences in the process of qualifying actions appertaining to illegal planting or cultivation of opium poppy or hemp: due to the Criminal Code of Ukraine or due to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements.
