Members of the Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster met the Representatives of Environmental Committees of the Sejm of the Polish Republic and the National Council of the Slovak Republic

The meeting was dedicated to the World Environmental Protection Day, and held in Zakarpattia region.

 

The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of environmental issues concerning coordination of legislation; significance of the Convention on the Protection and. Sustainable Development of the Carpathians within the scope of cooperation in the environmental sector between Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia; prospects of development of Polish-Slovak-Ukrainian international biosphere reserve "Eastern Carpathians", etc.

 

The participants of the meeting visited Uzhansky National Nature Park, where they discussed functioning and prospects of development of the international biosphere reserve "Eastern Carpathians".

 

The participants of the meeting deem necessary to create a joint Ukrainian-Polish-Slovak working body to manage the international biosphere reserve "Eastern Carpathians", elaborate the Concept of sustainable development of the said region, monitor the environment and introduce common systems for assessing the environment of the Eastern Carpathians.
