PLENARY MEETINGS OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WERE HELD ON THURSDAY, 20 MARCH
At the beginning of the morning meeting, Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented on yesterday´s declaration of The Party of Regions Faction concerning hearing of the General Prosecutor and acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine as regards events in Kharkiv City Council on 18 March 2008.
Then the People´s Deputy Hanna Herman made a statement on behalf of the Party of Regions and the Communist Party of Ukraine Factions. The Factions demanded that the status of a fighting participant be restored to the participants of peacemaking actions.
Then the People´s Deputies demanded that the Minister of Internal Affairs speak in the Parliament.
Yuriy Lutsenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, reported on the situation concerning a sojourn of Ukrainian contingent under the UNO peacemaking mission in Kosovo.
Then Olexandr Yefremov, Chairman of the Committee on Rules of Parliamentary Procedure, Ethics and Support to Work of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reported on the Committee´s opinion concerning two Bills amending the Constitution of Ukraine (re restrictions of the deputies´ immunity).
After the recess, the People´s Deputies considered a number of resolutions on appointment of judges and termination of their authorities.
Then The Verkhovna Rada proceeded to the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On the State Purchases". The said Bill was adopted as a Basis, and in its entirety.
The People´s Deputies considered a number of Bills on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine regarding enhancement of legislation in the field of traffic safety.
The Bill "On Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Enhanced Regulation of Relations whilst securing Traffic Safety", submitted by the President of Ukraine, was adopted as a basis.
At the end of the evening meeting the People´s Deputies passed a Resolution on the Budget of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Year 2008 as a basis and in its entirety.
The Verkhovna Rada passed a number of Resolutions on announcement of early election of several village, settlement and city mayors.
Then the evening meeting was closed.
