The Committee on Social Policy and Labour recommends that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts as a Basis the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for Year 2008 and Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine" (re Indicator of Living Wage Provision)

The Bill (Reg. No.2129) excludes the regulation, pursuant to which, the rate of a living wage is taken into consideration while granting the State aid due to the Law "On the State Social Aid to the Low-Income Families".  

 

However, the Committee members stated that "Article 46 of the Constitution of Ukraine declares that pensions and other types of social payment and aid, regarded as main source of income, should secure the standard of living not below the legally defined living wage".
