09 June 2008, 15:04

The Committee members deem necessary to settle the critical situation that arose at the industrial site of the former industrial enterprise "Prydniprovsky Chemical Plant"(Dniprodzerzhynsk, Dnipropetrovsk region).

The Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine is responsible for decommissioning of the said object, and bringing its territory into environmentally safe condition. However, conversion of the enterprise and allocation of its property is being performed without due account for the nature of its activity, and with improper upkeep, and negative influence of uranic production waste on the environment.

The priority tasks of the State Program of bringing Dangerous Objects of the former Industrial Enterprise "Prydniprovsky Chemical Plant" into Environmentally Safe Condition and

Protection of Population from Harmful Influence of Ionizing Radiation for Years 2005-2012 fail to be implemented.

The Committee recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine elaborates Draft Resolution "On the State Target Environmental Program: «Conservation, Liquidation or Conversion and bringing the Objects of the former Industrial Enterprise "Prydniprovsky Chemical Plant" into Environmentally Safe Condition". The Cabinet of Ministers is also to envisage relevant expenditures in the State budget for the next year.
