The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mykola Dzhyha, Committee Vice-Chairman, Leader of the Working Group on Elaboration of the Anti-Corruption Legislation Set.
M. Dzhyha informed the attendants that on 12 December 2006, The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a Basis the Bills on Amendments to Several Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding liability for corruption infringements (Reg. No.0875), principles of corruption prevention and counteraction (Reg. No. 0876) and liability of legal entities for committed corruption infringements (Reg. No.0877).
The said legislative acts aim at enhancement of criminal legislation of Ukraine and legislation on administrative infringements of natural persons in the field of corruption counteraction.
The Parties discussed the issues concerning legislative support of activity of Ukrainian authorized bodies in charge of corruption prevention and counteraction.
The representatives of the Millennium Challenge Corporation reported on the Draft Code of Public Officials´ Professional Conduct and the Bill on Financial Avowal by Public Officials, elaborated by the relevant Working Groups.
The Parties also discussed a number of issues concerning further cooperation.
