03 April 2008, 12:07

The Bill (Reg. No.1129) introduces amendments to Articles 45 and 46 of the said Law, which define specify the procedure of election of deputies of local councils, and village, settlement and city mayors. They define their authorities; establish the procedure of opening of the first session of a newly-elected council; extend the terms of office of the deputies of local councils from four to five years.

However, the Committee members emphasized that the Bill influences the local budget expenditure.

The People´s Deputies also stated that neither effective election legislation, nor the amended Law clearly define the procedure of "recognition of authorities" of the deputies of local councils, and village, settlement and city mayors.
