For the first quarter of 2008, the Committees of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine scrutinized 4,3 thousand appeals of the citizens, and the Deputy Factions - 2,2 thousand appeals. The departments of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate scrutinized 14,9 thousand appeals, motions and complaints of the citizens.
The majority of appeals, motions and complaints of the citizens (9,6 thousand, or 45,9 %) was received from the socially unprotected sections of the population. Thus, 3,6 thousand pensioners, 1,1 thousand persons disabled in the result of the WWII, 603 war veterans, 592 veterans of work, 542 persons children of war, 458 families with many children and single mothers, 423 disaster fighters and victims in the result of Chornobyl disaster, 249 fighters appealed to the Parliament.
The People´s Deputies scrutinized 1,6 thousand appeals concerning citizens´ comments on the events in the country, activity of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine..
Furthermore, the citizens filed requests concerning labour (5,3 %); economic reforms, market relations, entrepreneurship, privatization, policy of prices and taxes (4,9 %), other issues regarding political, economic and cultural sectors.
