The Constitution of Ukraine, the Law "On the National Minorities in Ukraine" and other legislative acts are regarded as a political and legal basis of formation and realization of ethnical and national policy and provision of rights of national minorities in Ukraine.
Ukrainian legislation regards conclusion of international agreements as a means of protection of rights and liberties of national minorities. For instance, there is the Treaty on the Relations of Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between Ukraine and Romania, and the Parties completely fulfill their commissions.
There are six institutes in Ukraine, which are funded at the expense of the State budget and deal with the issues concerning interethnic relations.
Ilze Brands-Kehris, First Vice-President of the Advisory Committee under the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities of the Council of Europe Secretariat, expressed her gratitude to the Committee members for an informative meeting, attention to the mentioned issues, and wished further success in law-making activity.
