Within the framework of the official events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, met with Second President of the National Council [the lower house of the Parliament] of the Republic of Austria Karlheinz Kopf.

Andriy Parubiy thanked his Austrian colleague for clear stance of his country on the sanctions against the Russian Federation as well as for non-recognition of the elections to the State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly (Russian Parliament), that took place in the Russia-annexed Crimea.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada called for intensification of the regional cooperation between Ukraine and Austria.

Andriy Parubiy invited Mr. Kopf to take part in a meeting of the regional cooperation forum, Europe-Carpathians, which will take place in the town of Yaremche on November 25, 2016.

Mr. Kopf condemned the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and said that the world community must do its best to improve current situation and restore sovereignty of Ukraine in full.

The Austrian politician congratulated Andriy Parubiy on success in implementing reforms in Ukraine and expressed understanding of difficulties triggered by that complicated process. He also said Austria supports Ukraine on its way of reforms and European integration.
