Andriy Parubiy will take part in European Conference of parliamentary speakers in Strasbourg on September 13-17

In compliance with the visit program, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, will meet with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn; Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, Andrej Plenkovic; President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz; President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Pedro Agramunt, and Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland.

Besides, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada will deliver speech within the conference section entitled The Migration and Refugee Crisis in Europe: Role and Responsibilities of Parliaments.

Besides, it is planned to hold bilateral meetings with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Elmar Brok; Deputy Chairman of the European Parliament Committee, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski; President of the Storting (Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway), Olemic Thommessen; Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks; and President of Bundestag (Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany), Norbert Lammert.

Besides, at the end of a meeting of chairmen of five parliaments a joint statement is expected.

The themes of the European conference are: Migration and Refugee Crisis in Europe – Role and Responsibilities of Parliaments; National Parliaments and the Council of Europe: Together Promoting Democracy, Human Rights and the Rule of Law; and Mobilisation of Parliaments against Hate for Inclusive and Nonracist Societies.
