On Friday, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii told the Rada TV Channel that the sooner Ukraine becomes a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the better it will be for the security of the Ukrainians. He said: "I was a member of the NATO interparliamentary assembly before the Maidan events. I was specialized in the issue when the NATO itself was not so important for the society here," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said. He added that he does his best to take part in the Ukraine-NATO Parliamentary Assembly next week. "I believe that one of the strategic tasks of Ukraine is to enter the NATO," he said. Parubii said that the major topic at the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Parliamentary Assembly will be the implementation of the defense reform in Ukraine. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada expressed confidence that the Ukrainian army will become one of the most powerful in the whole region.
