Ukrainian Parliament supports initiative of Verkhovna Rada Chairperson Parubii to adopt Resolution on commemoration of victims of genocide of Crimean Tatar people

On May 11, 2016, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii initiated the adoption of the draft resolution on commemoration of victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people and on condemnation of infringement of rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar people by the Russian Federation.

The initiative was announced on the eve of the Day of Remembrance for the victims of Crimean Tatar genocide in 1944, which is marked in Ukraine on May 18.

The Resolution addresses the United Nations, European Parliament, Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, world leaders and members of the world community.

Respective decision was backed by 240 people's deputies, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii thanked deputies for their fruitful voting.
