The new Government has to become the power of new quality, the power responsible for its actions and their results, the power able to ensure the development of the country and restore people's trust.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this in this speech of a candidate for the post of the Prime Minister of Ukraine at the Ukrainian Parliament on Thursday, April 14.

"I am not eager to become the Prime Minister. I along with all of you can take responsibility for the course of affairs in the country," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.

Groysman said that the new Government "will be intolerant to corruption, will be responsible in fulfilling the tasks the state of Ukraine is currently facing, will do its best to ensure stability and development of our country."

"This Government and these authorities have to become the power of new quality, the power responsible for its actions, the power responsible for the result," Groysman said.

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada noted that in current complicated situation the authorities have to show their effectiveness and show their political will to draw the country out of the crisis, speed up the reforms and ensure inevitability of the movement towards the European integration. "All that today requires consolidation of the Ukrainian society and the Parliament, the establishment of effective Government, the Government able to trigger the development of our country," Groysman said.

The Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that the authorities have to become responsible, open and effective. "The people want to have a perspective, they want the authorities they trust in, and they want to have good living standards. We have to restore the trust of the people, we have to do our best not to be ashamed," he noted.

Groysman said that Ukraine today must combat corruption, ineffectiveness of state governance and populism, "which are not of less threat for the country than the enemy in the east of our state."

"Standing at this rostrum we can say how we love Ukraine as many times as possible, however, if we do not prove it in practice, no one will trust us. Everyone in this session hall must forget about his or her ratings, ambitions and must remember how average people live in Ukraine," he said.

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada thanked the Parliamentary Coalition and the President of Ukraine for their trust.

"I swear that I will serve Ukrainian people, and will do my best not to feel ashamed before the Ukrainian people," Groysman said.
