The Bill (Reg. No. 0014) envisages ratification of European Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions concerning Custody of Children and on Restoration of Custody of Children, adopted on 20 May 1980 in Luxemburg and signed on behalf of Ukraine on 24 January 2006.
At the meeting the Committee members stated that the Convention envisages appointment of National central bodies by the Contracting Parties for enforcement of its regulations, determination of principles of cooperation between the authoritative bodies and their actions in cases of illegal relocation of children or restoration of custody of children.
It was also emphasized that, on the whole, the Bill meets the requirements of the basic Law "On International Agreements of Ukraine" appertaining to the international agreements that are subject to ratification by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The People´s Deputies believe that ratification of the Convention will promote enhancement of legal regulation in the field of custody of children in relations between Ukraine and States- co-signatories of the Convention.
