Ukraine and Poland expand cooperation of their parliaments

On January 21, 2016 in Warsaw, held was a meeting of Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oksana Syroyid with Polish Sejm Marshal Marek Kuchcinski in the framework of the visit to the Republic of Poland.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish parliaments, in particular in the framework of the interparliamentary assembly Poland-Ukraine.

Marek Kuchcinski pointed to the need to expand cooperation between the two parliaments, in particular in the issues of cooperation and development of Central and Eastern Europe. The Speaker of the Polish parliament assured that Poland is ready to use its position in the EU to promote development of Central and Eastern Europe.

Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine pointed to the importance of cooperation in the information sphere in order to effectively counteract in the information war unlashed by Russia against its neighbors and European values.

The sides also discussed further cooperation in the fields of education, economy and energy security, as well as in the areas directly influencing the rights of the people living on both sides of the border - local border traffic, visa-free regime.
