Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman hopes that today the Ukrainian Parliament will send the draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine touching justice for its consideration by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said this in his opening speech at the Tuesday plenary meeting.

"Today we will have to eye it (the draft law), take respective decisions and send it to the Constitutional Court to receive its conclusions. The constitutional process will be continued once the Court's conclusions are received," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.

Groysman reminded that the draft amendments to the Basic Law touching justice had been elaborated by the Constitutional Commission, received positive conclusions from the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) and was sent for consideration of the President of Ukraine. In turn, in compliance with the Constitution of Ukraine, the President submitted the draft law for the consideration of the Ukrainian Parliament.

"I believe no one has doubts that the system of justice in Ukraine requires changes to restore the trust of the people. The most important is that this system has to fulfill its most important functions," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.
