The draft state budget for 2016 is rather tactical than strategic at the moment. After the adoption in the walls of the Ukrainian Parliament it will be adapted in compliance with the tasks the country is facing now.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said this in his opening speech at the Tuesday plenary meeting.

"We all acknowledge that this budget is rather tactical than strategic. We will have to continue working on it to inform the Ukrainians about how we will live in 2016," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada noted.

He also said that the state budget has to be adapted before early 2016. "I call for a responsible compromise, for giving your support to these initiatives, taking in account the fact that in January, or February the latest, we will have to work on each and every field subjected to reforms to take the final decision," Groysman said.

Groysman reminded that the Ukrainian Parliament has to work on the draft state budget for 2016 "in extreme conditions" and "within extremely short period of time." Despite all this, the workgroup for adaptation of the draft state budget "is working on the improvement of the document and bringing it to the level when it could be finally adopted," the Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament said.
