Groysman: Ukraine and Cyprus have considerable potential for further development of bilateral relations

Ukraine is interested in further deepening of bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said this at the meeting with President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis on Friday.

Groysman noted that current visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus was a remarkable event in the development of bilateral dialogue and better mutual understanding between Ukraine and Cyprus. He thanked for the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union by Cyprus.

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada reminded that two years ago, the Ukrainians took to the streets to protect their right to the European integration.

Groysman noted that the visa-free regime is important for millions of Ukrainians.

The Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament noted that the visa regime limits opportunities for the Ukrainians, thus, "the decision of the European Union that would simplify the visa procedures is important for us." At that he noted that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had adopted the whole set of documents required for the positive settlement of this issue.

Groysman said Ukraine was interested in expansion of mutual cooperation opportunities. To meet the goal, the Ukrainian Parliament passes required documents that will facilitate the deepen the cooperation between Ukraine and Cyprus.

He says Ukraine is holding reforms and structural changes in many fields of our life. "Even though Ukraine is a young democracy, the Ukrainian Parliament is showing ability to take serious decisions required for the state's development," Groysman said.

In turn, the President of the Republic of Cyprus thanked for the hospitality and noted that the relations between our countries have traditionally been at the proper level "however, I hope for their perfection and intensification." He expressed readiness of Cyprus to provide assistance to Ukraine in the frames of the EU-Ukraine association where possible.

He also said that current reforms held by Ukraine manifest the will of the country to cooperate with the European Union. "We call for introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukraine," he said assuring that Cyprus would support Ukraine in the European institutions.

Nikos Anastasiadis said that "Ukraine has good objectives and this path lies through reforms." "Through reforms the goal achievement is available," he said.

Groysman thanked the President of the Republic of Cyprus for consistent support of Ukraine and expressed confidence in further development of friendly relations between our countries.
