The unification of communities in Ukraine is the only way to expand the opportunities for their development.
Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said this at the meeting with the heads of village and small town councils of Kamiyanka, Smila and Cherkasy districts of Cherkasy region on Monday.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada congratulated all the attendees on the Local self-government day, having noted that all those, who work at local self-government bodies, did understand well all the problems at the local level, daily felt particular responsibility for the welfare of the citizens and public tranquility.
The Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament also noted that the key changes taking place in the state were the raise of importance, increase of capacity, financial capacity and responsibility of the local self-government.
Once again he expressed said that "small communities, unfortunately, cannot be effective," and that the task was to "create joint governing bodies in the villages, which would not change their names, to receive the budget to be able to build the system consisting of normal health care, education and infrastructure development."
According to Groysman, this will save disappearing villages. "This is a difficult path, however, it is important for everyone to unite on this way. The central authorities understand the problems of the local councils in every detail," he said.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada called the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine touching the decentralization and the local self-government reform going in line with the European standards and bearing no threat for the state.
