On December 4, the official website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine launched the Open Data service in the test mode in the frames of implementation of the plan for top-priority measures aimed at greater transparency, openness and accountability of the Ukrainian Parliament.

The portal of open data of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is designed to post the data in open formats and is created to fulfill the Law of Ukraine "On access to public information" registered under No. 2939-VI dated January 13, 2015 in the wording dated May 1, 2015 (concerning the accession to public information in the open data format).

Top-priority data to be posted on the portal will be:

•Regulatory and legal framework of Ukraine ("Legislation of Ukraine" database);

•Information about consideration of issues put on the Verkhovna Rada's agenda (plenary meetings);

•Database of draft laws of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Open Data service was introduced in the frames of the top-priority measures on creation of the E-Parliament at the Verkhovna Rada. From now on, the society, experts and scientists will have an opportunity to tougher their control over the activity of the sole Ukrainian legislature through having access to the instruments of resistance to and detection of corruption.

The service does not only allow the society and experts to take part in the decision-making process of the Ukrainian Parliament and parliamentary committees, but also shortens the time earlier taken by receipt of extracts and processing of requests.

The test version of the Open Data portal will later be adapted along with the partners of the project: the UN Development Programme and the OPORA Civil Network.
