The Public Health Committee recommends that Parliament passes the Bill, 'On Amendments to Clause 77 of The Public Health Base Legislation of Ukraine' (appertaining to providing Additional Paid Leave for Family Medicine Employees)

14 January 2008, 16:26

The Bill (Reg. No.0933) proposes to regulate, at a Legislative level, the provision of  additional leave of three calendar days for Family Medicine General Practice Nurses, Heads of Family Medicine Divisions, and Mobile Medical Teams whose work experience, for a continuous period, exceeds three years.

The Committee Members upheld a proposal for new wording of Clause 77 of The Public Health Base Legislation of Ukraine, so that it reads, ‘District Hospital Doctors, Chief Medical Officers and  Physicians in Ambulance Stations and Dispensaries based in rural areas, District General Practitioners,  Paediatricians,  District  Nurses in Local Hospital Out-patients´ Clinics and Ambulance Stations,  General Practitioners (Family Physicians) and Family Medicine General Practice Nurses,    Heads of Paediatric  and Internal Diseases Units in Out-patients´ Clinics,  Heads of Ambulance Station and Family Medicine Units, Doctors (Senior Doctors) and  Lower-grade medical staff  in mobile teams of  Emergency First Aid Stations and Units, Aviation Medical Stations, and Planned/Emergency  Consultative Aid Units, where they have a continuous work experience record  in the said positions and institutions (local units),  are entitled to  additional  paid Annual Leave for the duration of three days. At the same time, the rights of other categories and grades of medical staff  to additional paid leave within the established limits are safeguarded.

The Committee believes that the passing of this Bill will contribute to the continued employment of  those medical staff  who work in  the  least  prestigious positions within the   Public Health Institutions.
