"Holding of "local election" called by the militants in Donbas will mean unilateral termination of the Minsk agreements," First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii said in a TV-interview in the United States (http://ukrainian.voanews.com/media/video/parubiy-vybory-donbas/2975959.html).

Parubii said that in this case he would personally recommend exclusion of items that envision peculiarities of self-government on the occupied territories from the text of the draft constitutional amendments.

Parubii expects the ceasefire in the east of Ukraine to last until at least September 28 — the day Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York "as there he will try to sell the idea about the division of the spheres of influence in the world taking in account the campaign he rolled out in Syria, and against the background of these events he will try to show good will and implementation of the Minsk agreements." In words of Parubii, that is why such a long-lasting ceasefire is registered in the east of Ukraine. He expects that Putin will try to meet with leaders of many states and demand acknowledgement of Russia's influence in the world.

"Unfortunately, I have expected what is going on now: the problem with Russia is not a Ukrainian problem, but a global one, and should Putin by unstopped in Ukraine, "the men in green" may appear in any corner of the world," Parubii said. He also said he had had a meeting with Senator Richard Burr, who is the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and the latter agreed "if Putin had been stopped in Ukraine, no "men in green" would have ever appeared in Syria."

Parubii thanked the United States and the world community for their support to Ukraine. He said that in the situation of permanent Russia's aggression, Ukraine needs lethal weaponry, in particular, antitank complexes. The First Deputy Chairperson hopes that the policy of the White House after the forthcoming presidential election will have stronger position "as we know that both democrats and republicans are committed to providing Ukraine with lethal weapons."
