A Bill 'On Amendments to several Laws of Ukraine' (re establishing a minimum portion of wages within the production costs structure).

12 December 2007, 13:30

The Bill (Reg. No.1172) envisages a legislative establishment of the minimum 30% wage payments in the production costs structure.

Today,   the percentage of wages paid out by the majority of Ukrainian businesses is around 12% (the standard figure in industrially developed countries is 35%). The Authors of this initiative, K. Vashchuk and O. Zarubynsky, consider that ‘an extremely low level of labour renumeration has been established in Ukraine, testifying to a non-proportional and unfair distribution of wealth among the various categories of citizens. This factor is one of the major reasons that has led to the poor quality lifestyle of Ukraine´s population´.

It is not anticipated that the passing of this Bill will lead to a requirement for any additional Budget funds.
