The Committee members emphasized that cooperation in ecological issues can precipitate alleviation of tension, expansion of cooperation and consolidation of peace. The Parliament members approved decisions of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum held in May 2007.
According to the Resolution, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly commented positively on constructive actions of the OSCE concerning rendering assistance to 56 participating States and 11 Partners in struggle against energy security threats and, as a result, in strengthening of stability. The Assembly also supports current activity of the OSCE concerning the development of Ecological Security Strategy for this Organization that will be discussed at the meeting of the Ministerial Council in Madrid in November 2007.
The Committee members call on the OSCE for close cooperation with participating States, national and international organizations that have experience of activity in the field of energy security, and call on the OSCE participating States for working out their own strategies of ecological security.
