Groysman: carrying out of decentralization reform will make Ukraine one of most powerful European countries

"Ukraine will be one of the most powerful countries in Europe, and the key to this will be the reform on decentralization of power, local self-government," Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said at a briefing on Friday.

The adoption of the draft law on introduction of decentralization amendments into the Constitution of Ukraine "will create a clear quality plan for our European future." "The essence of these amendments is to enable citizens to rule the country," he said.

Groysman called on people's deputies to adopt the draft law "to ensure irreversibility of reforms, invalidate any opportunity to usurp the power and create the conditions for the appearance of so-called "social lifts" — when new leaders are enabled to come to the local level and then to go up to the national level."
