A total of eleven regions have accepted the promising plans of formation of capable communities, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said in an article entitled "Why we need the decentralization?" published by the Ukrainska Pravda online media.

Groysman reminded that the mechanism of voluntary unification of communities, which will trigger the development of territories locally was created to save Ukrainian rural areas.

"The process has already started. Nine regions — Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Rivne — have accepted the promising plans of formation of capable communities at the sessions of their regional councils; at the same time, other two — Donetsk and Luhansk regions — approved the plans through the decision of military-civilian administrations," Groysman said.

At that he noted that "it is now the business of the communities themselves whether to following the way of unification or keep waiting."
