The March 4 hearings were attended by the Committee members, governmental representatives, representatives of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and of the NGOs.
Opening the hearings, Chairperson of the Committee Iryna Herashchenko claimed that today Ukraine is on its last stage of performing the second (implementation) phase of the Action Plan on liberalizing EU visa regime for Ukraine.
Governmental representatives informed the participants of the hearings on the status of fulfilling the implementation phase of the Action Plan, noting that results of Assessment Mission of the European Commission are positive.
At the same time, experts of the public sector mentioned several problematic issues that require their settlement in the context of completing the second stage of the Action Plan. Among them are: introducing the single state demographic register, complying national legislation in this sphere and the sphere of personal data protection and system of anti-discrimination legislation with the EU legislation, etc.
Representatives of the Polish Embassy noted that the European Commission evaluates every country on its way to the visa free regime with the EU only by results of successful fulfillment of the criteria.
The participants received for consideration the draft Decision following the results of the hearings and were offered to submit their proposals after its final adoption.
