The Committee on National Security and Defence recommends that the Verkhovna Rada should adopt as a basis and in entirety the draft law on numerical strength of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Committee members considered the bill referred by the President of Ukraine P.Poroshenko as an urgent one for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

 The bill (Reg. No. 2269) suggests establishing numerical strength of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the number that does not exceed 250 000 persons, including 204 000 of military men.

Approval of the numerical strength of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is stipulated by clause 22 of part one of article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine and part one of article 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Armed Forces of Ukraine”.

This Law shall be implemented within the scope of fund allocation stipulated by the Defence Ministry of Ukraine in the State Budget of Ukraine for 2015.

Committee members upheld the bill adoption of which will help determine numerical strength of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the legislative level.
