The event was attended by MPs, experts of the specialized ministries, representatives of over twenty institutions and organizations from different cities of Ukraine, scientists, public activists working in this sphere, and advisors of the European Union projects.
Chairperson of the subcommittee on road traffic safety Ihor Didenko stressed the importance of implementing provisions of the Coalition agreement, which has become an integral component of the Program of Activity of the Cabinet of Ministers, for reaching the main aim – a considerable decrease of road traffic deaths.
Participants of the discussion recognized that today in Ukraine the work of executive authorities in the road safety sphere is not coordinated enough. They stressed the need to change the approaches to funding measures on improving the road safety within the framework of elaborating the reform on local self-government, as well as changing the foundations of activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Infrastructure, and Ministry of Health.
Participants of the meeting believe that practical work on resolving the abovementioned tasks requires establishment of interdepartmental working group for elaborating the necessary amendments and also political will of the country's leaders.
