Offsite meeting of the Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe in Chornobyl

Participants of the meeting got acquainted with the state of implementation of projects on international technical assistance on the industrial platform of Chornobyl NPP.

Hearings were granted to the reports and speeches on implementation of tasks connected with withdrawal from service Chornobyl NPP and “Ukryttia” object; implementation of international projects on Chornobyl NPP platform; as well as prospects for the development of exclusion zone.

It was stressed that present-day problems have to be thoroughly discussed during parliamentary hearings entitled: “On withdrawing from service Chornobyl NPP and “Ukryttia” object, as well as prospects for the development of exclusion zone”, scheduled for March 4, this year in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Summing up the discussion, Committee Chair Mykola Tomenko stressed that the Committee is ready to resolve problems of Chornobyl NPP and that of the exclusion zone. He called on all interested parties to consolidate efforts in view of efficient and timely settlement of the existing problems.
