Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk

The meeting, held on February 16 at the request of Canadian Party, was dedicated to the modern state and prospects of development of bilateral Ukrainian-Canadian relations.

Chairperson of the Committee expressed gratitude to R.Vashchuk for the support of Ukraine on the part of Canada from the very beginning of military attacks of terrorist groups in eastern Ukraine, and for its unconditional position on respecting territorial integrity of our country.

The Parties discussed the issue of providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine by Canada’s Government and Canadian NGOs. H.Hopko agreed with Mr. Ambassador regarding the necessity of the soonest possible simplification of the procedure for receiving humanitarian aid by Ukraine

Discussing the situation in the east of Ukraine, the Parties expressed hope that the latter Minsk agreements will allow cease fire and finally put an end to the suffering of civilians in the conflict zone.   

H.Hopko and R.Vashchuk discussed the parliamentary component of bilateral relations, having stressed their importance for broadening Ukrainian-Canadian cooperation in all spheres.
