The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the bill on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of their Social Protection” re the status of persons who protected independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine

The bill (Reg. No. 1688) suggests eliminating gaps in the applicable legislation and broadening categories of persons who have the right to be granted the status of a combatant, participant of war or a disabled war veteran.

The document stipulates in particular:

amending clause 19 of part one of article 6 of the Law in the part of recognizing military men of the State Special Transportation Service; rank and file and command staff of the State Emergency Service and State Penitentiary Service as combatants;

supplementing part one of article 6 of the Law with a new clause 20;

supplementing part two of article 7 of the Law with new clauses 10 – 12;

supplementing article 9 of the Law with a new clause 13;

amending article 10 of the Law.
