On Monday First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii met with expert group on reforming electoral legislation of the Reanimation Package of Reforms.
They discussed the ways of finding the most optimal system of elections. "One of the most important tasks Ukraine is facing now, especially before the local elections, is finding an open system of electoral legislation which would ensure people's choice because of their beliefs but not falsifications or money", claimed First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Former Ukrainian MP, expert Andrii Shevchenko claimed "Even if we are not yet ready to justify the best law on elections in the world, we are ready to guarantee an open process of elaborating the law". "Firstly, this will be the law that is being elaborated not during a campaign, this will be an inclusive process aiming to reach a maximum consensus between the parties, and it will involve the public", he stressed.
It was stressed that soon the specialized Committee and the representatives of political powers and experts shall suggest a variant of law on elections with open lists in support of the coalition agreement.
Experts Yevhen Radchenko, Denys Kovryzhenko, Oleksii Koshel, Olha Aivazovska, Vadym Miskyi, and Yaroslav Yurchyshyn also participated in the meeting.
