Current state and prospects for the development of tourism in Ukraine were discussed at the round table in the Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy and Sports

Opening the meeting, Secretary of the Committee, Chairperson of the subcommittee on the development of tourism, health resorts and recreation activity Anna Romanova claimed the field of tourism is very important for Ukraine and plays a key role in attracting investments and creating new workplaces in different spheres of economy (transport, communications, trade, construction, agriculture, and production of consumer goods and services). In her opinion, tourism is a highly profitable sector of the economy and an effective factor of integrating our country in European and global societies, and has great informative and educational opportunities for forming a harmoniously developed Ukrainian citizen.
A.Romanova also stressed that the main aim of holding this meeting is to attract attention of the state to the sector of tourism and resorts, to create favourable conditions for investments into development of the tourism and resort and recreation infrastructure, to improve quality of services, to create a positive image of the country, and to promote tourism product at the international tourism market.
It was mentioned that over the last years there was almost no funding of the sphere, and the State Budget for 2015 does not stipulate any funds for the industry.
Participants of the round table stressed that during "Euro-2012" the tourism industry showed "considerable opportunities for filling the state budget".
Following the results of the discussion, several recommendations for executive authorities were adopted. An expert council of tourism, which "will become an efficient platform for analysis and elaboration of bills, legal and regulatory acts that will comply with world standards and help solve topical issues of developing the industry" shall be formed at the Committee.
