Today the Parliament has to uphold legislative initiative of the Head of State and vote for lifting impunity of deputies and judges. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman claimed this opening morning plenary meeting of the Parliament on Friday.

Volodymyr Groysman informed that the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, leaders of parliamentary factions and NDSC Secretary met today. In the course of the meeting, Head of State put forward the initiative to refer the bill on lifting deputy and judicial impunity to the Verkhovna Rada.

“Leaders of all political parties and factions unanimously took the decision to uphold the initiative,” stressed Chairperson of the Parliament.

Volodymyr Groysman informed that he has entrusted the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat to prepare this bill for consideration in the session hall in order to vote for it today and then refer it to the Constitutional Court with a view to initiate the procedure of “lifting unlimited, unjustified and shameful impunity of deputies and judges.”

“I am convinced that today the Ukrainian Parliament has to show its will and support presidential initiative,” he claimed. At the same time, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada expressed hope that the bill, referred by the President of Ukraine, will be upheld by all of the deputies, which will prove real rather than declarative steps to lift impunity.
