The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law "On amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re improving the order of military service and the issues on social protection of Ukrainian citizens who are doing military service during the special period"

The legislative act introduces norms on applying social protection for a special period, stipulated for military men called up for military service during mobilization, to military men called up for military service under a contract until the end of a special period or demobilization, and granting military men of compulsive military service the right to 10-day vacation.
The Law stipulates discharging form military service during the special period those military men of compulsive military service who served during the determined terms of military service, and call citizens up for compulsive military service.
The Law also:
decreased a number of reasons for Ukrainian citizens to receive deferment from doing compulsory military service;
increased time period of doing compulsory military service regardless of the type of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (18 months) and obtained higher education Master's degree (12 months);
introduced criminal liability of citizens for evading a call-up for military service;
specified reasons for discharging military men from military service during the special period.
The Law conformed separate norms of laws "On Military Duty and Military Service", "On social and legal protection of military men and their families", "On pensions for persons discharged from military service and certain other persons", "On local self-government in Ukraine", the Labour Code of Ukraine, and the Criminal Code.
The Law was adopted with consideration of amendments and supplements.
