Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko met with Head of the European Commission Support Group for Ukraine Peter Balas

The people’s deputies Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, Svitlana Zalishchuk, Oleksii Riabchyn and Viktoriia Ptashnyk participated in the meeting on the part of Ukraine.

In the course of the meeting the Parties discussed the state and prospects of strengthening cooperation between the EU and Ukraine. They mentioned that contacts between representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament will deepen cooperation within all branches and strengthen political association and economic integration between Ukraine and the European Union on the basis of mutual interests.

Attention was attached to current developments in the eastern Ukraine, particularly, to the necessity of the soonest possible rehabilitation of infrastructure of parts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, ruined as a result of the conflict in the eastern parts of Ukraine.

Head of the Support Group for Ukraine stressed readiness of the European Commission to provide the all-round assistance in the issues on promoting forward looking action plan of Ukraine regarding implementing reforms.
