The bill (Reg. No. 1688) suggests eliminating gaps in the applicable legislation and broadening categories of persons who have the right to be granted the status of a combatant, participant of war or a disabled war veteran.
Presenting the bill during the Committee’s meeting on Wednesday, the Committee Chair Oleksandr Tretiakov noted that “the people’s deputies – members of the Committee on Matters of Veterans and Persons with Disabilities jointly with the State Service on Matters of ATO Participants and Veterans have elaborated this bill in order to decently evaluate participation of the citizens of Ukraine who protect independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Besides, in order to eliminate gaps in the existing legislation, this bill clearly determines categories of persons whom the state is obliged to grant the status of a combatant.”
