The Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the bill on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re securing free access of citizens to coastline of water bodies for general water use

The bill (Reg. No. 1107) aims to improve legal regulation of water relations pertaining to maintenance of citizens’ free access to coastline of water bodies for general water use.

The document stipulates amending the Water Code, the Land Code, the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements and the laws “On Local Self-Government in Ukraine” and “On Local State Administrations”. 

Amendments to the Land Code shall prohibit installation of fences or other structures that prevent citizens’ access to coastal water bodies.

The bill establishes administrative responsibility for unlawful limitation of citizens’ free access to coastal water bodies for general water use.
